Dr. Shoichi Furuhama

Born in 1921

Pioneer of hydrogen engine vehicle R&D

Dr. Shoichi Furuhama devoted much of his life to the pioneering development of hydrogen-powered automobiles. His laboratory spawned many followers, who ultimately carried on his work to successfully create practical hydrogen-powered utility vehicles. His technical prowess and ability to educate others was a valuable combination for our industry. In recognition of these great achievements, the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame is honored to induct Dr. Shoichi Furuhama into the Hall of Fame.

Car no.9 – another truck, this time from 1994.

Car no.10, 1997.

This hydrogen-powered bus from 2009 was the first to be approved for regular road use.
