Mr. Tsuneji Matsuda

Born in 1895

Inspirational leader of Mazda for high efficiency production and development of rotary piston engines

Following the devastation left behind by the Second World War, Mr. Tsuneji Matsuda exerted all his efforts into developing convenient vehicles suitable for the reconstruction, thus making a valuable contribution to the economic growth of Japan. His encouragement regarding the development of the rotary piston engine resulted in the completion of the world’s only mass-produced RE, forcing home the excellent engineering ability of the Japanese. In recognition of these great achievements, the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame is honored to induct Mr. Tsuneji Matsuda into the Hall of Fame.
